Planning permission was granted in 2018 for the development of land to the immediate south of the established employment area at Follingsby Industrial Park, Gateshead. The site is of regional importance being located adjacent to the A194 (M) strategic corridor, extending to a total area of 37.6 hectares and the development comprised 2.4million sqft of Class B2 / B8 floorspace. Planning consent has enabled the client to swiftly progress the scheme and the development is currently being constructed.
At the planning stage, Fore were commissioned to provide highways and transport advice in relation to the site, including the preparation of a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan and the Transport chapter of the Environmental Statement to accompany the planning application. Our work involved detailed and high paced dialogue with both the Local Highway Authority, Gateshead Council and Highways England and our approach ensured that the key highways and transport aspects of the development proposals were addressed and agreed culminating in there being no objections from either party.
Post planning permission, Fore were appointed to undertake the s278 detailed design work for the proposed access arrangements.
