High Speed Rail Station Option Assessment, Sheffield

Client: Sheffield City Region Authorities

Fore advise Sheffield City Region Authorities on High Speed Two (HS2) station options

OBJECTIVES

  • A concise summary of economic, planning and transport issues for the location of Sheffield’s HS2 station at either Meadowhall or in Sheffield City Centre.
  • Clear presentation of two station options in a form that could be used by technical and non-technical audiences to assist decision making.

OUTCOMES

  • The Authorities used Fore’s work to develop their responses to the public consultation on Phase 2 of HS2.
  • The summary also informed proposals for changes to the existing transport networks to ensure that any new station is fully connected, and regeneration, growth and job opportunities associated with the high speed rail line can be maximised.

“The decision on the best location for the HS2 station is so important for the future of Sheffield. Fore were able to combine strategic thinking with comprehensive local knowledge and presented all the options in a really clear and easy-to-understand way.”
