Strawberry PlaceIn 2019, Fore were appointed to provide highways and transport advice in relation to a mixed-use development at land between Strawberry Place and Gallowgate in Newcastle City Centre.

Located adjacent to two conservation areas, the site forms part of substantial redevelopment in the area aimed at providing a high density mixed used city quarter.

The development will provide 332 private rental sector apartments, 12,000 sqm office space with 250 sqm commercial space and a 200-bedroom hotel along with  high quality landscaping and public realm including improvements to the Sir Bobby Robson Memorial.

A drop in style public consultation was held in May 2019, providing an opportunity for the local community and interested parties to discuss the proposals with the development team and separate dialogue was held with the Newcastle Conservation Advisory Panel.

Fore prepared the Transport Assessment and Framework Travel Plan to accompany the planning application and demonstrated that the city centre location allowed the site to be highly accessible by a wide range of sustainable transport opportunities including walking, cycling, bus, rail and metro which formed part of the targeted BREEAM Excellent rating.

Planning permission was granted in April 2020.
